  1. Leopard is a carnivorous (meat eater) wild animal. 
  2. It's scientific name is Panthera pardus.
  3. It belongs to the Felidae family.
  4. It is one of the five extant species in the genus Panthera. 
  5. Leopard is similar to jaguar in appearance but their rosettes are small. 
  6. Leopards are one of the most powerful big cats present on the face of the earth. 
  7. These are closely related to lions, tigers and jaguars.

  1. It belongs to Kingdom: Animalia, Phylum: Chordata, Class: Mammalia, Order: Carnivora, Suborder: Feliformia, Family: Felidae, Subfamily: Pantherinae, Genus: Panthera and Species: Panthera Uncia. 
  2. Leopards are approximately present in every type of habitat. For example; woodland, mountains, deserts, rainforests etc. 
  3. The color of the leopard's coat is cream-yellow on the belly and it darkens slightly to an orange-brown on the back. 
  4. Male usually weighs around 36 to 90 kg and female weighs around 20 to 60 kg
  5. Leopards can run at up to 58 km/h
  6. If leopards are hungry, they can go even faster and even reach up to 64 km/h. 
  7. Their average top speed is apparently 88.5 km/h
  8. Baby leopard are called cubs. 
  9. Their intelligence is one of their biggest assets during hunting and defending themselves from other predators. 
  10. These are considered to be the most intelligent among the big four cats, Lions, Tigers and Jaguars.

  1. Scientific name of African leopard is Panthera pardus pardus. 
  2. It is the nominated subspecie of the leopard, native to many countries in Africa. 
  3. African leopards grow to only 3 to 6.2 feet long. 
  4. Their tails add another 25 to 39 inches to their length. 
  5. Male of African Leopard usually weighs around 31 kg and female weighs around 23 to 27 kg.

  2. Indochinese Leopard grows to 4 feet and 27 inches in body length with 3 feet and 28 inches long tail. 
  3. A full grown Indochinese leopard weighs between 60 to 70 kg. In rare cases it cross 70 kg.  
  4. It had small rosettes that are so closely set and it looks dark. 
  5. Indochinese Leopard can run at up to 36 miles per hour and can jump forward 20 feet. 
  6. The total remaining population of Indochinese leopard is 973 to 2503 with only 409 to 1051 breeding adults.

  3. This subspecie of leopard grows to between 4 feet and 27 inches in body length with 3 feet and 28 inches long tail. 
  4. A full grown Persian leopard weighs between 50 to 70
  5. Persian Leopard can run at up to 28-35 miles per hour. 
  6. The total population of the Persian leopard around the world is fewer than 1000

>SINAI LEOPARD: 

  1. This leopard is present in Egypt. It is not one of the subspecies of leopard. 
  2. Scientific name of Sinai leopard is Panthera pardus nimr. 
  3. A full grown Sinai leopard weighs between 21 to 60 kg. 
  4. It grows to 6-7 feet in body length (including tail). 
  5. Sinai Leopard can run at up to 30-36 miles per hour. 
  6. The "Panthera pardus jarvisi" was the name proposed by Reginald Innes Pocock in year 1932 for a leopard skin from the Sinai Peninsula. 
  7. It has been listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List (since 1996). 
  8. The total population of the Sinai leopard around the world were fewer than 200 wild individuals, estimated to be alive in 2006
